Job Title: Database Administrator (Oracle + SQL Server)
Location: Downtown, NY
Duration: 6-12+ Month
 
This is with a banking /asset management firm downtown. The key thing is the person must be highly technical (Senior Level) with both SQL Server AND Oracle Database Administration.
 
• The Oracle and SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and monitoring of the firm's database systems, and providing solutions to database problems.
• Database server administration (creation, configuration, set-up, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting/problem resolution, performance tuning)
• Application database support (database import/export, security, and performance tuning)
• Documentation development (standards, procedures, and other technical documentation)
• Monitor ongoing performance of Oracle databases and SQL server databases. Requirements
• Minimum of 7 years overall experience with at least 4 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle and SQL Server Database Administrator, working directly with both database servers handling mission critical production environment
• Experience working with Oracle 11g in a unix environment
• Experience in the use of Oracle Data Guard, shell scripting in unix environment, PL/SQL, RMAN, Oracle Grid Control, Oracle Diagnostics and Tuning Packs , performance tuning, SQL Server Report Service, Windows Clustering, and DoubleTake
• Exposure to SQL 2012 a plus
• Experience with LVTS or DoubleTake a plus
• Comfortable to resolve issues independently with a sense of urgency and confident in supporting a fast-pace environment
