Job Description:
Under the direction of NYC Department of Education's Office of Research and Data, major responsibilities include performing analysis, design, programming and testing activities for the development, maintenance and enhancements of the Advance Teacher Ratings System. In addition to streamlining systems and developing new project management materials, the three project managers will lead the efforts of our Advance Help Desk team.
This will entail:
• Navigating and refining DOE data systems while on the phone with teachers or administrators;
• Training internal Advance Help Desk team members
• Refining the systems of recognizing when inquiries need to be forwarded to the ORD team and directing the entering data into a case management system or other databases associated with inquiries.
• Overseeing and refining the process of providing necessary feedback regarding improvements to the current process and providing feedback on recurring issues to ORD while collaborating with ORD to implement improvements.
• Running data queries through DOE's various databases using SQL

Also, required will be the generation of reports, validate accuracy of generated report to reliable source data through a quality control process; provide expertise and assistance to other departments in extracting data and creating reports, and peer review reports created by other developers and provide feedback.

The minimum core competencies required for this position are:

• Proficiency in Microsoft office, especially Excel and Outlook required.
• Experience navigating databases, experience with DOE data systems preferred 
• Data analysis and presentation skills.
• SQL Query Composition 
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Strong writing, verbal and listening skills. 
• A master's degree from an accredited college a plus.
• Experience in government or education sector preferred.
• Extremely well organized, able to work under pressure, and meet frequent and changing deadlines.
• An interest in urban education.
