Job Description:

 

The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications for real-time publishing systems.  You will work in an agile-based environment building creative Internet syndication products using technologies such as Java, Spring, GWT, Solr, MySql, XML, Linux, and RSS.  Come be a part of this team that is changing the way the web works in a fundamental way by providing real time Internet information and infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Ø  Designing, developing, and deploying Java based news and social media applications.

Ø  Providing architectural input to project-related decisions.

Ø  Be comfortable functioning as a team lead, working closely with the Engineering Manager to coordinate activities for a small team of developers.

Ø  Define systems that include both hardware and software components.

Ø  Work independently with minimum supervision and a geographically dispersed team.

Ø  Use industry best practices to deliver high quality code.

Requirements:

Ø  5 years of professional software development with 5 years of Java coding experience.

Ø  Multi-faceted with a wide array of talents and ability to problem solve

Ø  Self-starter with initiative to accomplish tasks as an individual but also enjoys working on teams

Ø  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Ø  Experience developing and desire to develop J2EE web based applications

Ø  5+ to 7 years of experience

Ø  Minimum Education - Bachelor's Degree

 

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with some of the following technologies, in no particular order:

Ø  Google Web Toolkit (GWT), Spring MVC, Struts, JSP, FreeMarker

Ø  JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, jQueryUI, Highcharts

Ø  Maven, Ant

Ø  JUnit, Selenium, Concordion

Ø  Other languages: C++, Scala, Node.js, Ruby

Ø  Change Management: Subversion, Git

Ø  Bug Tracking: JIRA, Redmine

Ø  Big Data: Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra, Mongo, Redis, etc

Ø  MySql design, tuning, and experience with very large databases

Ø  Experience with large scale web systems

Ø  Experience working within Scrum and Agile
